THE 'FAT FREE' 'LOW FAT' CRISIS

Here’s something that I have found out about nutrition when it comes to people trying to get in great shape, this includes men and women.

Most people know what’s considered healthy and not healthy.

Most people know that eating a stack of foods that contain lots of wheat and gluten and lots of sugar (in whatever form) is not great for a lean looking body.

Most people know that alcohol and fizzy drinks are not good for our bodies.

BUT

We go ahead and drink it all anyway.

The food marketing companies know all this and know exactly what we are thinking!!!

They know that we’re worried about eating too much fat.

So what do they do?

Introduce LOW FAT and FAT FREE foods!!!

I want you to close your eyes and vision this scenario

Actually don't close your eyes otherwise you wont be able to read this important information.

Ok picture this conversation from the boardroom of a food marketing company that is trying to drive sales in order to please their shareholders (this is my spin on it, not an actual conversation that happened)

“I know, let’s remove the fat that is naturally found in this food because we know that’s what people believe is bad for them”

“But that makes it taste shit”

“Indeed it does, but we could add loads of sugar to it. That always makes stuff taste better”

“But that will be even worse for them than if we had left the fat in it”

“They don’t know that….. and at least when we can put our new ‘low fat’ sticker on them… which means we will sell more”

We as consumers now feel good that we’re taking another step forward in the right direction of a lean looking body without having to deprive ourselves of the things we love – low fat cheese, low fat yoghurt, low fat cake, skinny latte, low fat chocolate, coors lite, bud lite.

We (YOU) are being fooled/tricked into thinking that this is good and in fact, most of the time it’s causing even more damage internally than eating the full fat stuff.

Let that marinade for a second…..

…….It’s true

Fat is NOT the enemy here.

This is one of the moments that I could go off on a tangent explaining all about macronutrients (carbs, protein and fats and the roles they play in your daily nutrition….)

But i've already done that.... >>CLICK HERE TO READ ABOUT MACRONUTRIENTS

I've also extensively gone into detail about fat

Hmmm I went a little bit off tangent there.

"Fat Free' foods

"Diet", "Fat Free" or "Sugar Free", are all packages you need to drop and run away from.

So many people see these and assume that what they are buying must be healthy. In reality, these words usually mean the food you're about to purchase is anything but healthy.

As I mentioned above when we were in the boardroom with the lab coat plebs when they remove a nutrient like fat to make "fat-free", they have to add something back to make it taste good.

Generally the ingredients include a bucketful of chemicals you can't pronounce, refined carbohydrates and lots of sugar.

Together, these additives can be detrimental to your fat loss goals. Where possible stay away or drastically reduce processed, packaged and pre-made foods from your diet.

Eat fresh, whole foods with minimal ingredients. Real food has stood the test of time.

Don't let the scaremongering brainwash crap blur out some of the amazing foods that are touted as unhealthy but are actually greast for us.
